    Public Sector Equality Duty

    Under the Equality Act 2010, schools must show how they:

    1. Eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation
    2. Advance equality of opportunity
    3. Foster good relations across all protected characteristics

    Our Commitment

    Charlton Primary School is an inclusive community where every child is valued and supported to achieve their potential. We are committed to promoting equality, celebrating diversity and addressing any barriers to learning or participation.

    • Age range: 4–11 years

    We monitor outcomes for pupils with protected characteristics and for other key groups, including:

    • Pupils eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)
    • SEN pupils
    • Disadvantaged pupils
    • EAL learners
    • Young carers
    • Looked-after children
    • Other vulnerable groups

    Our tracking ensures we identify gaps in progress and take action to reduce them.


    How We Meet the Equality Duty

    Eliminating Discrimination

    We do this by:

    • Implementing our Single Equality Scheme and behaviour policies
    • Monitoring bullying and racist incidents
    • Reviewing our curriculum to promote diversity and challenge stereotypes
    • Ensuring high-quality teaching and equal access to provision
    • Listening to pupils, parents/carers and staff
    Advancing Equality of Opportunity

    We:

    • Use data to identify underachievement and plan targeted support.
    • Encourage active parent and pupil voice.
    • Ensure all pupils can access the full curriculum and wider opportunities.

    We:

    • Promote respect and positive relationships across the school
    • Engage with our local community
    • Embed equality and diversity throughout the curriculum and assemblies
