The Vale Academy Trust

Welcome and Vision

The Vale Academy Trust (VAT) was formed on 1st October 2013. There are now eight current member academies; two secondary schools and six primary academies situated within 10 miles of each other in the South Oxfordshire area. It is expected that other local schools will seek to join the Trust in the future. The Department for Education has also approved the Vale Academy Trust as a Sponsoring Academy Trust.

Our Trust was the first to include non-faith and Church of England schools in a single multi academy trust and, as such, is able to cater for either type of school, ensuring that the individual ethos or faith element of member schools is protected.  Each academy, therefore, retains its own distinctive character whilst sharing a common vision and set of aims. These have already resulted in many exciting joint projects and initiatives, reinforcing our ambition to offer each young person a breadth of experience through which they will find and forge their talents whilst they learn in forward thinking, inspirational schools with skilled and motivated teachers who will help secure the best of outcomes for each individual child.

The day-to-day local operation of each academy remains the responsibility of the Headteacher, their staff and their Local Governing Body (LGB).  Both the Board of Trustees and LGBs are supported by various committees.

The Future

Vale Academy Trust is excited to have won a Free School Bid to open the new ‘all through’ academy to be built on the Grove Airfield Development and scheduled to open in September 2022.  Planning for project this is already under way and we look forward to working with stakeholders to deliver this new school for the local community.  We are also talking with other local multi academy trusts to strengthen our collaborative style of working, which may, in future, lead to closer working relationships with regard to both Teaching and Learning and School Improvement.
